Shortly after undergoing neck surgery for an injury sustained against the Dallas Cowboys, Ricardo Lockette, wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks, purchased 100 cheeseburgers for the homeless in Dallas.

According to TMZ, Lockette and his family were leaving the Dallas hospital when they passed through an area with a large homeless population. It was then that Lockette decided he wanted to do something nice for those less fortunate, neck brace and all.

"He had a neck brace on while he was passing out the burgers," Earl Lockette, Ricardo's father, told TMZ. "So some people were like, 'What happened to you?' But Ricardo didn't try and bring attention to who he was."

"Some people knew who he was. But this was more about Ricardo seeing people who were in worse shape than him, and wanting to help them however he could."

Lockette sustained the injury in Seattle's win over the Cowboys when he took a hard hit from Dallas' Jeff Heath, momentarily rendering him motionless. In addition to ligament damage in his neck, he suffered disk issues and had a concussion. The injury is expected to keep him out the rest of the season.

"It's going to be a considerable recovery here," Seahawks coach Pete Carol said via the Seattle Times. "So he's going to just be laying low. There's stuff he's going to be doing but not extensive right now. He needs to just rest for a good while."

Lockette's road to recovery is sure to be a long and trying period, filled with considerable hardships. However, with the recent actions of the wide receiver, it looks as though the healing has already started.

"It was a beautiful thing," said Earl Lockette via TMZ. "Through helping other people, he helped heal himself."
