RIP Gucci Mane? Guwop to Take Over? Rapper Announced Change of Name on Twitter, Changed His Mind 30 Minutes Later

Atlanta, Georgia rapper Gucci Mane had revealed on Twitter that he will be changing his name to Guwop to more than one million of his followers. But he overturned his decision 30 minutes later. 

Mane Tweeted Feb. 4, "July 2nd I'm officially changing my rap name to Guwop and retiring the great GucciMane. Thanks Fans, for 8 years as Gucci now it's Wop turn."

His announcement got more than 11, 000 Re-Tweets. Many of his fans did not like the change of name.

His fans Tweeted: @ItsKevinbro: "‏@gucci1017 u trippen cuh."

@KENYELJONES: "- You are truly mentally challenged. @gucci1017"

@Baambataa: "@gucci1017 I've been a fan since day one.... Don't change ya name, bruh, i'll be upset."

He later had a change of mind and Tweeted after 30 minutes, "I am officially NOT changing my name to Guwop it will officially stay Gucci Mane due to my Fans' response.. Trap House 3 & Juug House July 2." He later added, "Ya'll Hell ... Lmfao."

Mane revealed to his fans that he is releasing a new mix tapes - Trap House 3 & Juug House and also dropped their dates - July 2.

Mane is set to make his appearance in the upcoming movie, "Spring Breakers" that stars Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine and James Franco.

Rappers have made headlines changing their names - Snoop Dogg changed his name to Snoop Lion,  Mos Def changed to Yasiin Bey and N.O.R.E. changed to P.A.P.I.
