After struggling with substance abuse and admittedly soliciting prostitutes in the past, the former spouse of Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller will sit down with Matt Lauer on NBC's The Today Show and announce he is HIV positive. Twitter has lots to say about Charlie Sheen's announcement.

According to TMZ, Charlie Sheen will reveal to the whole world that he has been diagnosed as HIV positive. Sources close to NBC's "Today" reveal the Wall Street actor will sit down with Matt Lauer on Tuesday morning. From the official NBC press release, the 50 year old will make a "revealing personal announcement."

As Access Hollywood reports, a source close to Richards mentions that she has known that he had the disease for a number of years. The Anger Management actor contracted the disease in the years following his divorce with the Undercover Brother actress back in 2006. Neither Richards, nor the couple's children, have been infected with HIV.

Check out what Twitter had to say:

@corpboy_tellem tweets, "Be honest everybody...how many of you thought, "what took so long?" #CharlieSheen"

@LUV_UNIQUELY  states is on the actor's side, "God bless him for being strong enough to go public with his diagnosis. Wishing #CharlieSheen the best!"

@CoreyDylan mentions, "Is he still #winning? Sad for his kids but not surprised. That what drugs & hookers lead to. #CharlieSheen"

@DaveyHild adds, "Sounds like #CharlieSheen got some tainted tiger blood"

@SamiLiebman writes, "Crazy news about #CharlieSheen but I guess shouldn't come as a shock. I just hope his recklessness didn't hurt others."

@cassleighnadine states, "All these ignorant #CharlieSheen tweets. I commend his bravery. I only hope he will use his platform to educate & end taboo the comes with"

@hugoarenas responds, "Finding it difficult to be compassionate for #CharlieSheen. From his track record, he's lucky to be alive."

Charlie Sheen will announce that he has HIV in an interview with Matt Lauer on The Today Show on Tuesday.
