According to the infamous gossip webloid MediaTakeOut.com, the Magna Carta superstar was furious after the 42-year-old "Happy" crooner suddenly backed-out of a partnership with his exclusive music streaming service, Tidal. Instead, Pharrell started working promotion with online competitor, Apple.

Their close friendship within the industry supposedly crumbled after that. An alleged MTO snitch explains:

"[Jay] took it as a slap in the face for Pharrell to do that. Especially since Pharrell was one of the main people who came up with the idea for [Tidal]."

But did HOV's anger turn physical once he discussed things further with the R&B sensation? The insider further reveals:

"Jay definitely wanted to SEE Pharrell, and have a face to face. I don't know if Jay still is about that STREET LIFE . . . but Pharrell had a black eye last night."
