Earlier this week, the Indian Censor Board chopped off few kissing scenes from the Indian release of the new James Bond film, Spectre. Now, the Board has objected on Pan Nalin's Internationally acclaimed film, Angry Indian Goddesses.

Angry Indian Goddesses is based on female bonding and combating patriarchal tyranny and, according to latest updates, the film has encountered an unexpected hurdle. According to DNA India, the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has objected heavily to what they see as a profane references to Hindu Goddesses.

A source close to the film said that the major portions of the film have been hacked off by the Examining Committee. The major scenes that are being chopped off from the film features Tannishtha Chatterjee. The actress confirmed that her role has been drastically reduced.

"The film that fetched me so much acclaim abroad and the film that has been cut by the Censor are two different entities. Now, my role is almost nothing."

Angry Indian Goddesses was screened in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where it grabbed the second place in the voting for the People's Choice Awards, reported Variety.

The released trailer of the film depicts the story of few Indian girls who are facing obstacles in their day-to-day life because of the gender inequality and the hurdles they all face in their life from their counterparts. Their IMBD summary describes the film in one simple line, "What holds them back, is what set them free."

The trailer also revealed few things which may have gone against Indian Censor Board rules and regulations, such as when an actress is dancing in rain wearing nothing but a bra, using obscene words and even long kissing sequences. There is also a sequence which implores that the girls are talking about sex and at the end, when few guys make fun of them, the actresses talks about Goddess Durga.

The film's producer, Gaurav Dhingra has now took the film to the CBFC's Revising Committee, which will give a second chance to the film. There are chances that hopefully some, if not most, of the cuts would be restored.

The film features Tannishtha Chatterjee, Saraj-Jane Dias, Anuskha Manchanda, Sandhya Mridul and Amrit Maghera in the starring roles. The film is scheduled to release on Nov. 27, 2015.
