'The Bastard Executioner' Season 2: Twitter Reacts Katey Sagal, Stephen Moyer Cancelled!

FX has cancelled the followup drama from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. Twitter had lots to say about cancellation of Season 2 starring Stephen Moyer (True Blood), Katey Sagal (SOA's Gemma Teller) in The Bastard Executioner.

As we previously mentioned,The Bastard Executioner follows a warrior knight, Wilkin Brattle (Lee Jones) in King Edward III's court. The loyal knight has been broken by the ravages of war and vows to leave the way of the sword. When violence strikes again, the retired knight is forced to pick up his sword again.

In an ad for The Hollywood Reporter magazine, the The Bastard Executioner showrunner announced he was canceling his own show. FX has previously renewed a third season for both Tyrant and The Strain. Sutter explains the low ratings played a part in his decision, "I think the mythology was a little too dense for some people. There's a glut of period pieces on right now, and I'm sure timing has something to do it. There's just so many f-ing variables involved in that formula. My sense is that a year from now, people will be like, "Why didn't you make more?" (Laughs.) I mean, I get so many people telling me they're on episode four of Sons."
