‘SNL’: Weekend Update Anchors Debate Syrian Refugee Crisis [WATCH]

Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che have reportedly been going back and forth regarding the recent Syrian refugee crisis. With hundreds of thousands looking to enter the United States to seek refuge, the political parties of our country appear to be divided – not only by party, but also by state.

"This week, a debate has raged about whether to let Syrian refugees enter the United States," says Jost, before equating the citizens of America – "a nation of immigrants" – to that of a roller coaster in which people wait in a long line to take the ride. And then, once completed, they tell the operators to shut it down.

"I just want it for me and my ethnicity, and then it's closed forever," Jost joked. (Kind of...)

To that, Che came in to claim that his ancestors weren't quite the "immigrants" that his co-anchor's were. In fact, he called his people more "invited guests" or, bluntly, "cargo."

The comedian then claimed that he understands why American's are "skeptical of the immigrants," joking that if his car was stolen, he would probably grab himself a high-class security system for his new car. You know, because there are thieves in the world.

Okay, maybe it wasn't so much a debate, more so really just quip after quip of funny.

On a serious note, however, the Syrian refugee crisis has been putting a divide between Republicans and Democrats. Recently, President Barack Obama came out hitting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, calling his idea to give Syrian Christians, and not Syrian Muslims, access to the United States "shameless." President Obama called further noted, regarding Cruz's comments, that the U.S. doesn't "have religious tests to our compassion."

And then Senator Cruz challenged the President to a debate. Seriously.
