Adele Credits Sarah Palin for Success: ‘25’ Singer Recalls 2008 ‘SNL’ Episode

Adele is easily one of the biggest stars in the world at the moment. And following her recent performance on Saturday Night Live from this past weekend, and the release of her very talked-about album, 25, she's pretty much everywhere. Which, believe it or not, could be something we may have to thank former vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, for.

Yes, it's being reported that Adele dropped word that her success in the United States is largely due to the former Governor of Alaska.

As it happens, the "Hello" singer first appeared as the musical guest on SNL way back in 2008 alongside host Josh Brolin. During that time, Palin was doing some campaigning herself, and therefore stopped by Saturday Night Live to stir up some headlines.

"So it was one of the most watched SNL's ever," Adele said, adding, "And then it was two weeks before the Grammy ballot, which is when people decide what songs they want to maybe nominate, so, like, literally the stars aligned for me."

It seems the singer is insinuating that ratings were so good, as so many people watched to see Palin on the show, that she was lucky enough to grab some of those views – and hence became successful in the States.

Of the two, one of them remained on top of the world. We'll let you guess who...

Adele stopped by this past Saturday's episode of SNL with guest host Matthew McConaughey to promote her newest album, 25 – and settle some Thanksgiving dinner disputes. She performed the oh-so-downloaded track "Hello" alongside "When We Were Young."
