WWE will air the November 23, 2015 edition of Monday Night Raw from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, and tonight's episode will contain all the fallout from the Survivor Series pay-per-view last night that concluded with Sheamus as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The show will air on the USA Network at 8 p.m. Eastern, but if you can't watch there, try here or here – both links broadcast free live streams of the show (this may require downloading a torrent).

Last night, Sheamus screwed Roman Reigns out of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and I understand what WWE is trying to accomplish here. The company is very much aware that fans love to cheer for an underdo, so they handed the title to Reigns ever so briefly only to yank it out of his grasp.

And if this all sounds familiar, that's because WWE has already done precisely this story with Daniel Bryan at the end of 2013 and beginning og 2014. He won the title, Triple H intervened, and The Authority's chosen one (Randy Orton then, Sheamus now) stole the belt with the Money in the Bank briefcase.

The difference here is that this story simply doesn't work with Roman Reigns as the centerpiece. Fans cheered for Daniel Bryan because they believed in his plight. He was a true underdog behind the scenes and on screen. Reigns, by contrast, has been demolishing every opponent in his way because he's a monster of a man. Tonight could ultimately be the start of his climb to the top and into fans' hearts, but right now it doesn't work.

To be fair, not every top babyface has to be Daniel Bryan. Stone Cold Steve Austin was the most aggressive and powerful man in the company during his golden years, which means he has more in common with Reigns than Bryan. But Austin struggled. He lost a lot. There were stakes and consequences to his matches.

With Reigns, it's John Cena 2.0. Fans haven't been able to really invest in him despite his undeniable skills because some feel he's a golden boy handpicked by WWE, while others note that he just doesn't lose.

But that could all change in the coming weeks. In just a few months, we could see Survivor Series as the moment when the fans truly started to throw their support behind Reigns. Unfortunately, we have to live with Sheamus as champion until that time comes.
