Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has landed the lead role in the Indian adaptation of Hollywood film, Chef. The 2014 comedy film was written, produced and directed by Jon Favreau, who is also featured as the lead in it.

According to The Daily Meal, Chef featured Favreau as the chef who quit his position at a high class restaurant to start his own food truck after he gets a terrible review that hits too close to home. Variety Magazine reported that the film will star popular Indian actor Khan in Favreau's role. Vikram Malhotra, from Abundantia Entertainment, acquired the rights from Favreau's Fairview Entertainment. The Indian version of the film will adapt the story line from the original movie but will also maintain the Indian touch.

"Ever since I first saw Chef I knew that this film had to be made in India. Charming relationships, a feel-good story and a unique journey of self-discovery make Chef the ideal film to bring alive in an Indian context. Add to that the blazing spirit of entrepreneurship and the rapidly evolving food scene in India and the context for a Hindi remake is brilliantly set," Malhotra said.

Malhotra also added that he feels very delighted that Khan, who is considers as one of the finest actors in Bollywood, will helm the title role in his version of Chef.

Khan is an Indian actor who got worldwide recognition from his roles in films like Dil Chahta Hai, Love Aaj Kal, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Hum Tum and Cocktail. The actor was last seen in 2015s action thriller Phantom and after that he will star shooting for Vishal Bharadwaj's Rangoon which will also star, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut.

There is no official date on which the Indian remake of Chef will go on floor, but those who have seen the film are surely going to be very excited to see Khan in the cult role.
