Transformers hottie Megan Fox is returning to television to help Zooey Deschanel celebrate the 100th episode of New Girl, which is now in its fifth season. The sitcom, which premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 5th, took a fall hiatus after Deschanel, 35, gave birth to her first child in July. The Elf star, who portrays Jesse on the hit comedy, is married to Skeleton Twins producer Jacob Pechenik.

Fox's last TV gig was on the series Hope & Faith  just over a decade ago. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles actress will play Reagan, a pharmaceutical rep who rents the room of Deschanel's character Jesse while she is sequestered on jury duty. The multi-episode arc will no doubt explain Deschanel's absence while she enjoys maternity leave.

A mom herself, Fox has two sons, Noah Shannon and Bodhi Ransom, with her ex-husband actor, Brian Austin Green.  The couple separated last summer but remain amicable.

In a recent interview with The Wrap, Fox said she suspected an ulterior motive behind her casting. "Like they were going to break their first transgender character and they thought it would be funny if it was me," claimed the 29-year-old.  Her character will supposedly add sexual tension to the entire cast.

"It's insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just have to accept it." said New Girl  executive producer Liz Meriwether. She added, "I've been a fan of her comedic skills since This is 40 and I'm so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part, she's the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up."

The guys of course are Jesse's roommates Nick, Schmidt, and Winston played by Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris. Also returning for the fifth season is Jesse's best friend Cece, played by Hannah Simone.
