It is a very emotional time for basketball fans. The best to ever play since Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, has announced his retirement from the NBA. According to ESPN, Bryant announced his retirement to coach Byron Scott during the middle of a game.

Talk about bad timing.

Basketball fans all over the world read with much disdain when Bryant officially announced his retirement through a poem on The Player's Tribune. While we all would think that this is the first Coach Scott would have learned about the news, it seems we were wrong.

Right before the start of the third quarter against the Portland Trail Blazers, Scott and "The Black Mamba" discussed his minutes played in he game.

"I said, 'KB, I played you 20 minutes in the first half. I'm going to cut those minutes down,'" said Scott. "I have to cut them down."

"That's good coach. That's all right," said Bryant. "I'm going to announce my retirement after the game."

While the 37-year-old admitted that the revelation came as an accident you can't take back the things you say.

"It just slipped out. He was worried about he minutes. I said it doesn't matter. I'm not playing next year anyway," said Bryant. "He gave an odd stare. I looked at him at his face, and I realized I said it."

Surely we speak for many Bryant fans when we say that it is a shame to see him go. Many of the newbies that you may idolize look up to him. Not only was Bryant a driving force throughout the NBA, he was and will go down as a legend.

It would have been nice for fans see "The Black Mamba" get a ring in his final season but with all the work and accomplishments he has achieved is so much more. There will never be another Kobe Bryant.
