Courteney Cox and rocker Johnny McDaid recently called off their engagement, after appearing so in love. Sources now reveal that the real reason for their split was that Cox did not want to relocate and leave Los Angeles.

There were reports that Cox felt something felt different with McDaid's behavior, even claiming that the actress hired a private investigator and ended their relationship soon afterwards.

The UK's The Sun reported personality clashes were also a source of contention in the relationship.

An insider stated of Cox, "She is domineering and used to getting what she wants in her relationships and in work. She is tough and doesn’t suffer fools.

"Johnny is laid back and their personalities just clashed. She would try to mother him and he didn’t like it. He also hated how obsessed she was with buying and selling property. She is absolutely devastated."

It appears the main issue causing their split was the Cougar Town star didn't want to leave Los Angeles and move to London with the Snow Patrol musician.

A source revealed, "Things have been rocky for a while. They were arguing over wedding plans, had one almighty row and she asked him to leave.

They are both devastated that it has come to this."

Cox and McDaid became engaged in June 2014, after being introduced by their mutual friend Ed Sheeran.

The actress was previously married to actor David Arquette and they have joint custody of their 11-year-old daughter, Coco.

The last time the actress was photographed with the Snow Patrol guitarist was in August and she posted a final Twitter picture of him in September.

McDaid reportedly packed up his things and moved to the UK after Cox refused to relocate to London from Los Angeles.
