Renowned feminist, critic and educator Camille Paglia has no interest in being part of Taylor Swift's squad, or any squad for that matter. In a piece she wrote for The Hollywood Reporter, Paglia slams Swift, whom she likens to a "Nazi Barbie," the new girl squad phenomenon and even Beyonce.

Paglia starts off the piece, which is mostly a critique on "girl squads" and whether they are a detriment to modern feminism or not, with a brief history of squads themselves. She details how squads (and feminism) have looked in Hollywood, both amongst stars in real life and in on-screen portrayals.

Fast forward to today, and she takes on Beyonce, saying, "Performing at the 2014 Video Music Awards, Beyonce flashed "FEMINIST" in giant letters behind her, but questions were raised about the appropriation of that word by a superstar whose career has always been managed by others, first her parents and now her domineering husband, Jay Z."

Paglia saved her harshest comments for Swift, however. She says since our world has changed from an agrarian society to one dependent on individual careers for both men and women, in order to be successful and helpful squads need to "avoid presenting a silly, regressive public image - as in the tittering, tongues-out mugging of Swift's bear-hugging posse."

Paglia goes on to say that the singer herself should "retire that obnoxious Nazi Barbie routine of wheeling out friends and celebrities as performance props." The comment is no doubt an ode to Swift's latest tour, where she famously brought out a large number of big names to join her on stage each night.

At the end of the article, Paglia says that it's a "horrific ordeal" to write about Taylor Swift because "her twinkly persona is such a scary flashback to the fascist blondes who ruled the social scene during my youth."

Swift, who turns 26 on Dec. 13, is currently wrapping up her latest tour. She's made no comment so far.
