'Jane the Virgin' Gina Rodriguez Reacts to America Ferrera Golden Globes Snafu

Gina Rodriguez stars on the hit show, Jane the Virgin, and is nominated for a Golden Globe for her role. America Ferrera, known for her hit Ugly Betty, helped present the nominations for the Globes on Thursday. Somehow, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (sponsor for the Globes) got the two mixed up on Twitter, and now Rodriguez is responding.

The Globes' Twitter account confused Ferrera for Rodriguez, not once, but twice, by mistakenly tagging Rodriguez in the pictures of Ferrera and her fellow presenters.

Rodriguez spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the mistake, saying, "I didn't hear anything until recently someone sent me an article, but who cares? America's lovely. She's so beautiful and such a fantastic actress. If there's anybody I want to get mixed up with, it's her for sure."

She also told ET in the interview that her reaction this year mirrored that of last year, saying, "I don't feel like I could have ever have asked for any more. So this morning, when I heard my name called, I fell to the kitchen floor and started crying."

Rodriguez is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for Jane the Virgin, an award she won last year. Her win and tear-filled acceptance speech were much discussed, with the most famous snippet being when she acknowledged the Latino culture, saying, "This award is so much more than myself, it represents a culture that wants to see themselves as heroes."

Ferrera, who has also won in the same category for Ugly Betty, has yet to comment on the matter.

The HFPA apologized for the error, saying, "What occurred this morning was an unfortunate error. Our sincerest apologies to both America and Gina." The organization then removed the tweets.

The Golden Globes air on Sunday, Jan. 10, and will be hosted by Ricky Gervais.
