For star high school football players, announcing their decision on where they'll be playing their collegiate football is a big deal. It can be a lavish production, even. Take Daelin Hayes, for example. The 4-star recruit from Ann Arbor (Michigan) Skyline High School had narrowed down his list to just three schools: Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Michigan State. Instead of a simple 'I choose (insert school),' Hayes announced the decision in the form of a video. But not just any video, a Dark Knight-themed video.

Before collaborating with the Nolan brothers, Hayes was previously committed to USC. However, he announced his de-commitment from the Trojans after they fired former head coach, Steve Sarkisian.

The decision to play for the Irish came after a long look at the school. In choosing Notre Dame, Hayes hopes to have similar success to current player Jaylon Smith, who he credits for giving him advice that led to him making his commitment.

In a interview with Irish 247, Hayes talks about his decision:

"Well, the biggest thing in my recruitment, I wanted to take football out of the equation," Hayes began. "Without Football, how would the school [Notre Dame] set me up for life. The alumni base, the education, and overall would I be happy at the institution."

After a de-commitment and a long commitment process to choose Notre Dame, it was apparent that Hayes felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

"The fighting Irish has always had a special place in my heart," Hayes said. "It really feels like a relief to be able to say I'm part of the Fighting Irish and carry on the great linebacker tradition."

Hayes commitment brings Notre Dame's 2016 recruiting class to 19 members. He is set to begin classes in the Spring semester as an early-enrollee.
