Lady Gaga is a force to be reckoned with. An established singer and actress, the 28-year-old has the world at her feet. After serving as an advocate for sexual abuse victims in the non-profit sector and also in music with the song "Til It Happens To You", we all thought that her support just came from a caring place. After Gaga sat down with Howard Stern and talked about her past during an interview on The Howard Stern Show we now know that her support comes from being a victim of sexual abuse herself.

Gaga revealed that when she was a teenager, a producer 20 years her senior at the time took advantage of her.

The 28-year-old shared that she has dealt with long-lasting physical trauma that many victims must endure after rape.

"I wrote a song called 'Swine'; the song is about rape," Gaga said about the ARTPOP track. "The song is about demoralization. The song is about rage and fury and passion, and I had a lot of pain that I wanted to release."

Stern, who is no stranger to pushing the envelope, dug a little deeper for answers. Gaga stated that she was in a state of denial for a period of time. She wasn't able to admit that anything even happened to her. It took years for her to come to terms with the situation and realize what happened to her.

"I saw him one time in a store, and I was paralyzed by fear," said the singer.

Gaga was very thankful and grateful for finding peace through therapy. As she got older, maturity and more positive relationships helped shape her healing process as well. Although Gaga revealed a dark time in her life, her fans and the public can commend her for her honesty and the strength she has built by overcoming such a traumatic event.
