Quentin Tarantino has received the 2569th star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. The ceremony came right before the opening of his latest feature, The Hateful Eight, and right after some controversial comments. Despite the writer/director's violent films and recent remarks, a crowd of fans and peers showed up to see the 52-year-old get his honor. One of which was his six-time collaborator, Samuel L. Jackson, who introduced the Pulp Fiction legend.

"Knowing what kind of cinephile he is, the reverence he holds for these names, I was very, very proud the day I got my star and I know what it means to him, cause of what he thinks and how he reveres this business and the art of filmmaking," said Jackson on ironically what was his own 67th birthday. "There aren't a lot of people in this business who still look at filmmaking the way Quentin does and the purity of what it is and what it should be."

Also on hand to support the two-time Oscar winner were Jackie Brown actress Pam Grier, Reservoir Dogs actor Tim Roth and Django Unchained stars Craig Stark, Walton Goggins and James Parks. Most of the actors in attendance are also featured in the Golden Globe-nominated The Hateful Eight.

When the Kill Bill filmmaker took the podium he said, "I take it seriously that I am a member of this community, I am a member of this town. I'm happy to have my star on the Walk of Fame with all the other people who have done a wonderful job in this town."

On the placement of his star right under the Chinese Theater marquee, he added, "That's really cool, I must have become a big shot. This is a real, real groovy day."

These comments were a refreshing departure from what we've been hearing from the Knoxville, TN native. Back in October, Tarantino made some inflammatory statements concerning police brutality in New York and just last week on Howard Stern he complained that Disney strong armed Arclight Cinemas to push aside his latest film to make room for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Thankfully his recent tribute focused on his professional life and endeavors.
