HBO's purchase of Sesame Street's first-run rights was fairly controversial earlier this year (though these Muppets' Season 46 will still be played on PBS at a later date), and now the iconic show's closer than ever to its release date from its new home – and big celebs like Big Bird and Cookie Monster look a bit different!

HBO launched a new trailer for the season 46 of the beloved children's show, its first on the subscription network, and it's as adorable and as star-studded as one would expect from the children's classic, with the likes of Jon Hamm, Pharrell Williams, Gwen Stefani and Tina Fey joining in the fun.

According to IGN, a few things have changed in the show besides it now being available on HBO: after decades in the hour-long format, episodes of the 46th season of Sesame Street will be 30 minutes long in an attempt towards "helping kids focus their attention and engage with each story."

"Families will see fun and fresh changes to Sesame Street and can depend on their favorite Muppet friends to provide them with engaging and educational content," Brown Johnson, the creative director at Sesame Workshop, told the press a while back about the recent move.

Screen Crush reports that HBO is also adding a new character to its regular cast, Nina, and new episodes will be broadcast on the network on Saturdays at 9 a.m., with the January 16 premiere featuring two new eps.

Older episodes of the children's show will still be available on weekdays at PBS, besides being streamable from its site, and HBO subscribers will also have access to classic episodes through HBO Go and HBO Now. Still, the newer episodes will also be available at PBS, though nine months after the first broadcast in HBO.

Fall in love with the perfect new trailer!
