Stephen Curry has been unstoppable and untouchable in 2015. He led the once downtrodden Golden State Warriors to unprecedented recognition as the top NBA team. Curry's remarkable performance on the court has earned him the title of 2015 Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year. Curry can add this to his running list of titles, including NBA MVP award and NBA All-Star.

Steph Curry's record shattering three pointers have changed the game, which is why he shot right to the top of AP's Athlete of the Year list. His incomparable skillset on the court is what led the Golden State Warriors to an NBA Championship for the first time in 40 years. Curry will join the ranks of LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird as the only basketball players to ever receive the honor.

In a statement about the selection, AP representatives said, "His immense popularity derives from something less tangible. While many NBA greats rely on uncommon height and athletic ability that average fans can only dream of having, Curry's game relies on the traits that every casual player can work on: shoot, dribble and pass. The difference is, perhaps nobody ever has put those three skills together the same way Curry has the past year..."

In a close tally between Steph and racehorse champion, American Pharoah, Curry will bring home the prize. American Pharoah is the first racehorse since 1978 to win the Triple Crown and had his last career race at the Breeder's Cup Classic. In the AP's vote for Best Male Athlete, American Pharoah received 3 more votes than Curry, however almost all of the Top 5 ballots included Curry's name while American Pharoah only showed up on a third of the ballots.

Steph Curry has become an inspiration and the face of the NBA, with his jersey being the best seller in the league. He has led his team to be the center of attention with record setting ratings/tune-ins to watch his intricate warm up routine and back-to-back "Splash Brothers" three-pointers with his teammate, Klay Thompson.

Of course we can't forget that part of the reason Steph Curry is a household name is because of his adorable daughter, Riley Curry! Riley steals the spotlight with her sassy personality and supports her father on and off the court alongside her mother, Ayesha Curry and baby sister Ryan Carson Curry.

Steph said the AP Athlete of the Year recognition is a real honor. "I'm appreciative of that acknowledgement because it's across all different sports...it's pretty cool."
