On Sunday, Adam Vinatieri, kicker for the Indianapolis Colts, became the third player in NFL history to record 500 successful field goals--joining Morten Andersen and Gary Anderson as the only three men to reach such a feat. The following day, Vinatieri celebrated a birthday. He turned 43. His teammates, and the organization, reminded him just how old that was.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Colts' website asked several of his teammates what exactly it was that they were doing in 1996, the year Vinatieri entered the league with the New England Patriots as an un-drafted free agent (he had spent much of the previous year in Europe, with the Amsterdam Admirals). As it turns out, Vinatieri could be a father to many of his colleagues.

Phillip Doresett and David Parry, a couple of rookies in the organization, were 3 and 4-years-old. Starting guard, Hugh Thornton, was stirring up trouble in Jamaica. And punter Pat McAfee was giving his mom fits.

"I was a horrible child," McAfee said, via Yahoo! Sports. "I was a PITA, as my mom would call it. Yeah, a pain in the (rear). I was probably just trying to figure out ways to annoy my parents and Vinatieri was in here kicking footballs for the New England Patriots. And he's still doing it. I'm still a little PITA to most people. But he's still kicking balls better than anybody."

And while most players on the roster were at an age where they were figuring out mud pies weren't a tasty dessert item in 1996, there is one player who was doing semi-adult things at the time--quarterback, Matt Hasselback. The veteran play caller is now 40. In the year that Vinatieri first entered the league, he was a junior at Boston College.

See what more of Vinatieri's teammates were doing in 1996 here.
