Imagine you're a soccer player that has worked your whole life to become a professional. But not only that, an elite professional who was eventually signed by world giants FC Barcelona. Now imagine all that was taken away from you for a couple of tweets you sent out a long long time ago (in a galaxy far far away) before you could even put a jersey on. Unfortunately, that was the cruel reality for former AD Alcorcon player, Sergie Guardiola.

On Monday, the 24-year-old made the dream move from AD Alcorcon to Barcelona's B side--a team that is known to produce future stars, and could probably finish in the top four in France's Ligue 1 (no offense, France). Later on Monday, he was fired for a series of tweets he posted on his Twitter account during a 2013 El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, which included insults toward the team, Lionel Messi, and the Catalonia region of Spain.

"I wouldn't have Messi in my team; he spoils the way the team plays," one of the messages said, according to the Huffington Post. "Up real Madrid, and the hell with Catalonia."

After discovering the tweets, Barcelona released Guardiola and issued this statement:

"FC Barcelona has decided to terminate the contract signed with Sergi Guardiola, after finding that he published offensive tweets about the club and Catalonia.

Guardiola, who is in no way related to former Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola, maintained his innocence, claiming that the tweets were a mis-understanding.

"It is a mis-understanding," Guardiola siad, via goal.com. "I didn't write [the tweets], it was in 2013 and I didn't even know they existed."

"It was put on my profile, but it wasn't me," Guardiola continued, via goal.com. "I ask for forgiveness a thousand times--I have learnt a difficult lesson."

Guardiola went on to say that he had nothing against Catalonia, and that his dream was to always play for Barcelona. Guardiola will return home for the time being and "see what happens."
