According to Free Press Journal, the movie is said to revolve around the many facets of modern relationships and how all the equations of love and career chances over time.

Confirming the news, Bollywood Life reported that this would be Kapoor's third film with Suri as she has earlier worked with him Ek Villain and Aashiqui 2. It will also be the second film of her career which is adapted from a novel after her previous film with Shahid Kapoor's Haider.

Director Suri has been constantly tweeting about the updates on Half Girlfriend. The climax of the story is set in New York during the Christmas time so the director flew to NYC to shoot during Christmas.
