Over the weekend, TCU Horned Frogs football team overcame a 31-0 halftime deficit against the Oregon Ducks in the Alamo Bowl to win 47-41, effectively tying the largest comeback in bowl history. Not to mention the largest comeback of the 2015 season.

Ultimately, it was a game that was decided by a pair of back up quarterbacks. The Horned Frogs were led by Bram Kohlhausen, after starting quarterback and preseason Heisman Trophy contender Trevone Boykin was suspended for an off-the-field incident in the lead up to the game. The fifth-year senior performed more than adequately, passing for 351 yards, while also accounting for 45 rushing yards. And while Oregon did begin the game with their starting quarterback, Vernon Adams, they were forced to make a change after the starter took a vicious shoulder to the helmet, which proved to be the true turning point of the game.

After Adams was relegated to the sidelines, the Ducks struggled to move the ball on offense, forcing the defense to remain on the field for a large part of the game. It showed, too. TCU was able to score 11 points in the final four minutes to tie the game and send it to overtime.

And while the Ducks were able to force the game into a 3rd overtime, it was ultimately the team from Texas that had the energy to prevail. The winning score came from TCU's Kohlhausen, who ran in an 8-yard touchdown to begin the 3rd overtime. Oregon was unable to answer.

Before TCU's win Saturday, the largest comeback of 2015 had been Maryland's victory over Rutgers. The Terrapins overcame a 25-point deficit before outlasting the Scarlet Knights 44-41, that according to Yahoo! Sports.
