Like almost every rap album since the mid-90s, LL Cool J's upcoming album "Authentic" is loaded with guest spots. Unlike other albums, however, those slots are reserved for rock ‘n’ roll titans Eddie Van Halen, Tom Morello and Travis Barker.

The rockers have confirmed that they will appear on tracks “Waddup” and “Getting Paper”. The album, LL Cool J’s 13th since debuting in the mid-80s and helping to make Kangol hats a thing, is set to drop at the end of April and no tracks have been leaked as of yet. The album also features “They’re still around?” collaborations with Monica and Joe. Check out the tracklist below:

1. “Something About U (FTW)”
2. “Where Ya At (BOSS)”
3. “Take It” feat. Joe
4. “Closer” feat. Monica
5. “Too Late”
6. “New Love”
7. “Dream With Me”
8. “Girl So Bad”
9. “Ratchet”
10. “Bartender Please”
11. “Bath Salt”
12. “Getting Paper”
13. “Jump On It”
14. “Hell Yeah”
15. “Whaddup”

Oh Lord, please let “Ratchet” be what I think it is. Something along these lines:

(Don’t get your hopes up, it’s probably a dance track.)

LL Cool J came to fame with hard-hitting, no-nonsense boom-bap songs in the 80s before virtually inventing the rap ballad with 1987’s “I Need Love” off of Bigger and Deffer. The song reached number 1 in the US and was one of the first rap songs to achieve mainstream success across the pond in the UK, where it peaked at #8 on the singles chart.

LL Cool J continued to be a love song making machine for the next few years before roaring back to his street-tough roots with “Mama Said Knock You Out.” The rapper released many more critically and commercially successful albums before turning to acting. He currently stars in a spin-off of CBS’ NCIS.
