Comedian Amy Schumer is dating Ben Hanisch, a furniture designer based in Chicago. Hanisch was shown in a photo with the 34-year-old Trainwreck writer and actress at the White House on Tuesday, and Schumer's new boyfriend gushed over her in a touching post on social media on New Year's Day.

Schumer appeared to confirm her new relationship when she shared a photo on Instagram with Hanisch, her sister Kim and brother Jason .

The comedian was there to support President Barack Obama's proposed gun control measures, also posting the photo on Twitter with the caption, "Fam and man at the whitehizzy."

Last summer, two women were killed and nine others wounded when a gunman opened fire in a theater showing  "Trainwreck," prompting Schumer to speak out on gun control.

Furniture designer Hanisch appears smitten with Schumer, posting a sweet photo of the two cozied up on New Year's Day.

He captioned the photo, "Sometimes in life you get extremely lucky, and the smartest, funniest, most beautiful woman comes along when you least expect it. Here's to what adventures 2016 brings!"

On Monday, Hanisch posted of a dog looking out of an airplane window, with Schumer making a rather surprising comment.

Schumer commented on the image, jokingly writing, "I'm pregnant. I didn't know how else to tell you."

Hanisch is the founder of custom furniture design company The Last Workshop, and his LinkedIn profile shows he worked as a design consultant for HGTV previously.

Schumer, who was one of Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating People of 2015, told the host she would love to have a family.

The comedian admitted, "I would love those things, but I don't really see it for myself. I hope that happens, but I don't know how realistic it is."

The actress and comedian previously opened up about how her movie Trainwreck was based on her own fear about love.

She told the Washington Post that she discussed why her relationships didn't last with producer Judd Apatow, adding that the feeling of falling in love was "horrible" instead of ecstasy.

"Falling in love, for me, is a bad feeling. ... It's like you're on drugs but you can't come down," she said. "And you're terrified that the person could just tear your heart out at any second."
