Despite being The Daily Show's longest-running correspondent back when Jon Stewart was at the helm of the Comedy Central series, it looks like Samantha Bee wasn't even approached to replace him when he retired. But of course, she's landed on her feet at TBS' Full Frontal.

The comedian recently spoke with The New York Times and stated that she loved her time at The Daily Show, and when word of Stewart's stepping down began circulating, it was hard for her not to think about taking on the project.

"It's not like it wasn't in my brain," she said, admitting, "but it didn't' stay there fore long."

Which seemed to be a good thing for her considering that the network found a replacement for Stewart rather quickly in South African comedian Trevor Noah, who premiered on the network back in September 2015.

Bee's husband, Jason Jones, who was also a fan favorite correspondent on The Daily Show, admitted that the fact Bee wasn't approached "was a little shocking." He later told the Times that the comedian "is much happier where she ended up." Meaning TBS.

Bee has released a number of promos for the network, many of which take on the fact that she's a woman stepping into a largely male-dominated realm. But of course, it seems she's up for the challenge.

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee will premiere next month on TBS.
