Just in time for Halloween, horror/drug-rap savants Flatbush Zombies have returned with a video for "Death" a cut off their mad decent Better Off Dead mixtape. The clip features homages to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Warriors, '90s hip-hop vids in general ("looking up at a triangle of rappers" 4 lyfeeee), haunted hayrides/houses and, of course, zombie films. It's good to finally see some good news come out of the Coolio camp, though this news story would've been awesome no matter who the star at the center was. After a gig across the pond, Coolio hit it off with some University of Central Lancashire students. He went back to their house to chill with them and then...magic happened. Read More »
Let's get this out of the way up front. If Squadda B dreams of be ing a famous rapper, he probably shouldn't quit his day job. On top of a strange delivery and a voice that squeaks and cracks at inopportune times (usually when Squadda is putting on a tough mask), there's the fact that Bay Area spitter just isn't all that gifted in the lyrics department. Lauryn Hill was recently released from prison. And she's certainly been keeping busy. First, she released a new song called "Consumerism." Then, she petitioned a judge to postpone her three months of house arrest so that she could go on tour (and it looks like she will get it). Now, much in the same way that she did before going to prison, the ex-Fugee has penned an open letter thanking fans, friends and family for their support during her incarceration. There's not much I can add to the glowing praise that has been heaped on Alfonso Cuaron's hit film Gravity. The tense, beatiful - if slightly nauseating- thriller is a film that must be seen in theaters to be fully experienced and will likely leave several members of the cast and crew with more statues on their mantles than they had previous. One thing that other reviews seemed to miss, however, is that the film (despite the setting/main antagonist being cold, lifeless and absolutely terrifying outer space) is very much about reincarnation. It is fitting then, that the film will likely breathe new life into lead actress Sandra Bullock's career. Read More »
Breaking Bad is over, y'all. And it's time to move on. Unless you're obsessive fans or Aaron Paul, that is. The man who will likely never escape crazy fans cursing at him on the street did himself no favors by appeatchring on Tom Neville and Zen Freeman's track "Dance Bitch." Read More »

Apparently, Miley has had enough of everyone getting on her about every little thing she does (from her relationship with Liam Hemsworth, her dicey record with engagement rings, her haircuts, her lunch dates. Of all the people who Jay-Z could be beefing with (Florida Republicans, J. Cole, David Stern), he had to go after Taylor Swift. Jigga took the perennially heartbroken TSwift down a peg in a line from his song '100$ Bill' from the Great Gatsby soundtrack that he produced. Read More »

Today is the one-year anniversary of the death of Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys (and unofficially MCA Day in Brooklyn). Yesterday, in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood where Yauch grew up, the influential MC and activist had a park named for him. The ceremony included speeches from fellow Beastie Ad-Rock, as well as Yauch's mother and Borough President Marky Markowitz. Read More »
