By alex-galbraith | Mar 14, 2014 10:06 AM EDT

Trying to explain how big a deal the c86 compilation was to a youngster could prove difficult (because first you'd have to explain what a cassette was), but even a young'un will be swayed by your old fogey ways once you pop in the upcoming deluxe 3-CD reissue of that classic archive of jangling indie pop. By alex-galbraith | Mar 13, 2014 11:20 PM EDT

That's evident by taking one look at the talent she's onboarding for her latest. Watch Grandma's Dissect Beyonce's "Drunk In Love"

By alex-galbraith | Mar 13, 2014 08:57 AM EDT

9 out of 10 doctors agree that grandmas are the best. The tenth got his degree from the same school as Dr. Leo Spaceman. It stands to reason then that an excellent song like Beyonce's "Drunk In Love" can only be made better via the inclusion of nanas. Read More »

Lil' Jon, DJ Snake - Turn Down For What [Music Video]

By alex-galbraith | Mar 13, 2014 08:55 AM EDT

Crunk may be long dead, but Lil' Jon just isn't ready to stop bringing the good time to everyone. That was evident late last year when his ultra-amped, trapped-out DJ Snake collaboration "Turn Down For What" first burrowed it's way into our earholes and it's doubly apparent now that the superstar producer has dropped a ridiculously turnt up music video. By alex-galbraith | Mar 11, 2014 10:50 AM EDT

I thought I was excited for The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart's new album after hearing "Simple And Sure." Now - after the band debuted several new songs at Baltimore's Popfest - I realize my previous emotions were child's play. I don't know what to call this level of excitement, but let's call it the emotional equivalent of a broken Caps Lock key. Read More »

La Dispute - Rooms Of The House [FULL ALBUM STREAM]

By alex-galbraith | Mar 11, 2014 09:06 AM EDT

To say La Dispute just play emo would be an insult. These post-harcore punk rockers make music that is dense, literate and, in terms of their latest album, slick. Yes, the music is emotional, but don't let that turn you off if you're a scene outsider (and if you're already a La Dispute fan, don't let the "slick" label send you away. It's not like they went to Dr. Luke). Read More »
