Steven Spielberg will direct the highly anticipated movie adaptation of Ernest Cline's 2011 best-selling book, 'Ready Player One,' which is set for release on December 15, 2017. Steven Spielberg's 'Ready Player One' Will Be Released in 2017

Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg is slated to direct his first feature film in collaboration with Warner Brothers since A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001). Spielberg signed on in March to direct the adaptation of Ernest Cline's novel, Ready Player One. As soon as he is done with producing a Roald Dahl adapted novel, The BFG, he will begin his work with Warner Brothers. It will be nice to see him return to the production company that the Hollywood Reporter says is how he got to "establish his Amblin baner," seeing as he produced a variety of films for WB in the 1980s like Gremlins and The Goonies.
