Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is flying high these days. The actress has received immense appreciation for her portrayal of the first wife of a Maratha warrior in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama Bajirao Mastani and she also bagged a People's Choice Award for her American TV Series Quantico. The international actress will soon be seen in Prakash Jha's action thriller Jai Gangaajal but based on the trailer, it looks like she is not the real hero in the film.

Chopra will soon be seeing in yet another challenging role in Jha's Jai Gangaajal. In the trailer, it was shown that Chopra will portray the role of a badass cop. However, it will be the very first time when director Jha will have screen time with her in the film and he will be playing a much important role than the actress.

The released trailer starts with showing Jha's character, Bhola Nath Singh having conversations with the antagonist of the film, Manav Kaul. Singh is shown as a police inspector who is corrupt and tries to help the villain. However, as the story will progress, one will see that he has a change of heart and he finally chooses to come on the right side of the law. It was earlier speculated that Jha, who was presumed to be the second villain in the feature film, is actually the real hero.

According to a report in DNA India as cited by Bollywood Life, "There was a rumour that Prakash Jha is cast as the villain in his film. That was untrue. Jha is actually the film's hero. He has a better, meatier, more crowd-pleasing role than Priyanka. He has also given himself the juiciest dialogues. And the plot's climax is based on his character."

The film was earlier said to be a sequel of Ajay Devgan starrer Gangaajal but in an interview with Indian Express, director Jha clarified that it's a fresh story.

"It can't be a sequel. That was a film, which had a protagonist with a situation and was complete in itself. Jai Gangaajal is a story of police-society relationship revisited. I'm telling the story of a policeman, who happens to be from today's time."

The action thriller film is set for release on March 4, 2016.
