Sylvester Stallone won his first Golden Globe last night and the crowd honored him with a standing ovation. It was a historical moment that was four decades in the making.

Forty years after Stallone first introduced fans to Rocky Balboa, he was finally honored with a Golden Globe award. He took home the Best Supporting Actor award last night for his portrayal of the iconic character in Creed. As he took the stage, the entire audience at the Beverly Hilton got on their feet and gave him a standing ovation, which was also greatly deserved.

In a very moving speech, he began with the words "I'm gonna try not to get emotional, because I am the sum total of everyone I've ever met and I'm lucky to absorb some of it." Stallone went on to deliver a speech that thanked those who took a chance on him all those years ago and his "imaginary friend & best friend he ever had -- Rocky Balboa" The actor was very humble and gracious throughout his entire speech. He ended with thanking his wonderful family -- his wife Jennifer Flavin and daughters Sistine, Sophia and Scarlet.

Although Sylvester Stallone's speech was awesome and he did a fabulous job, there were a couple of people he forget to mention during his time on stage. The actor forget to give a shout to out to Creed director Ryan Coogler and his costar in the newest movie in the Rocky franchise, Michael B. Jordon. This snub caused a huge uproar on social media. However it seems viewers missed out on a pivotal part of the speech, where he did actually thank both Coogler and Jordan. Apparently as he was about to leave the stage and the music was playing, Stallone realized his error and thanked both men. However viewers did not see this moment because the show had already gone to commercial break. The thank you was later acknowledged on social media as well and again by Stallone in the press room.
