Alanis Morissette, arguably the most iconic female singer in the 1990's after hits like "You Oughta Know" and the misnomer "Ironic," is now way past her angsty stage, so much so that she's offering up advice – she's even got a new advice column for Guardian Weekend to prove it!

According to Morissette's official website, the singer has decided to team up with the magazine to call "upon her background, training, education and fiery passion for feminine empowerment, psychology and spirituality," as she's always truly loved to be on the giving side of advice and she feels it's now the time to carry it out in a big way.

In an exclusive interview with The Guardian ahead of the launch of her column, Morissette explained that the project came from a need to expand further in her writing, saying that, after over two decades in the music business, it was time for her to try out another way to exercise her brain.

"I was getting bored with just one form," said the singer. "Songs are my favorite, let's be honest. But there's a limitation. It's just three or four minutes. In a podcast, or in a column, there's an intimacy and vulnerability on my part and the questioner's part. We're going for it, and there's no hiding."

For her, this seemed like a swift transition. All through her life, she explained, she's been playing the role of "family therapist" to her closest family members.

In the same interview, the 1990's diva confessed that, when she was in her 20's and got her big break, she was on the receiving end of a lot of hate over her "psychobabble" and even her wrong use of the term "ironic." Of course, these days she's far from troubled with the malapropism behind "Ironic," and she recently even mocked the song in a hilarious clip with James Corden.

The first entry of Morisette's new advice column will be on Guardian Weekend this January 16th.
