Alanis Morissette comes clean again about staying healthy and sharing her struggles with fans after announcing her special edition 4 disc release of Jagged Little Pill. She has learned to become a more spiritual person with meditation and aromatherapy as well as being creative. She wants to help in a way and has always been open about her ongoing issues with depression, drug addiction, and eating disorders.  Perhaps by sharing her struggles, someone else can find their way out of their own struggles.

Women's Health Magazine says, "She begins every day by reading, listening to music, meditating, or writing-which is something she's loved her entire life." She claims that she has always enjoyed reading and writing and that even growing up her parents required her and her siblings to read at least 30 minutes a day, which was "just a joy" for her. She continues to tell Health that she not only "just find[s] time to fit in the hobbies she enjoys-she builds her life around them. In fact, she has renovated her entire home to fit her lifestyle. She has a room for yoga and meditation and an entire wall for her essential oils. Each of these things contributes to a facet of the lifestyle she embraces and tries to project into the world."

Morissette explains that she is an extremely sensitive being with a lot of emotions and that she used to believe that writing songs and singing them a million times over would be therapeutic and she explained that it does "move energy" and that that's good.  However, if she writes a song to get feelings out and then performs it, if that same person she wrote the song about walked into the room she would still freak out. Because of that, she has found other ways in which to not only "move" that energy, but to be free of those feelings and emotions and to deal with them in a healthy way. "I've been so disassociated for most of my life, and it's shown up in various forms like eating disorders and not having boundaries around having sex as a young person and just not being aware of boundaries and having a lot of mine be violated and not considered...For me, the idea of building boundaries has become a huge part of my spiritual practice. With the mindfulness somatic practices, it's really helped me stay in my body," Women's Health further reports.

She's admitted to being a workaholic. "'If I told someone I did heroin until 4 a.m. there would be this massive intervention, but if I tell someone I was working on a deadline until 4 a.m. they'd pat me on the back.' To curb unrelenting ambitions, Alanis spends time in her meditation room every day to reconnect with a higher power. She finds the act of meditating daily very useful in keeping her head and emotions straight. 'It's kind of where I go to tune into emotions, get divine messages through prayer. I do my gratitude lists in there,'" Belfast Telegraph says.

This isn't the first time that Morissette has shared her issues with the public. Softpedia says that, "[She's shares] her story with eating disorders to raise awareness on them. In the past, she's done countless interviews on the topic and took part in a variety of events to bring more attention to the importance of spotting the signs of an eating disorder and providing the appropriate treatment. She's also been very outspoken on other mental health issues, coming clean about her own bout with depression. For example, she found that running helped her keep it at bay, and she recommended others suffering from it trying out her method." She's such a good influence and it's nice to know that she embraces her own issues and tries to help fans and others with similar problems.
