Broadway is about to get a dose of some '90s female angst. Alanis Morissette's breakout debut album Jagged Little Pill is due to get the musical treatment in 2014, according to Rolling Stone.

The drama of the edgy, break up coping album will be brought to the stage with orchestral arrangements by Tom Kitt, who helped to adapt another concept album, Green Day's American Idiot to the stage in 2009. Another person who worked on American Idiot, producer Vivek J. Tiwary will also join the project with Arvind Ethan David.

In its earliest stage right now, no actors have been tied to the play, which will also be called Jagged Little Pill.

Jagged Little Pill is set to open as a workshop production next year.

"I look forward to taking the heart of Jagged Little Pill and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism," Morissette said in a press release to Rolling Stone. "I look forward to collaborating with Vivek and Tom and our whole inspiring team to create something greater than the sum of our parts."

Packed with angry energy, strong vocals and that distinctive '90s alt sound, Jagged Little Pill was one of the biggest records of the decade, selling over 33 million copies worldwide and winning the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1996, beating out Pearl Jam, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey and Joan Osborne for the title.
