Actress and film producer Reese Witherspoon may be producing and starring in a film adaptation of The Engagements, an upcoming novel from author J. Courtney Sullivan, Deadline reported on Wednesday.

According to Variety, Fox 2000 has acquired the rights to the novel and is in negotiations with Witherspoon and her producing partner, Bruna Papandrea, to produce the film through the actress' Pacific Standard production company.

The "Legally Blonde" star will reportedly sign on to produce the film, regardless of her final decision to join what would be an ensemble cast in a supporting role, states the Inquisitr.

The Engagements will hit online and brick-and-mortar bookstores in June of this year, and will tell "a deeply romantic story that follows a diamond engagement ring from the 1930s to the present, connecting five very different relationships in surprising and unexpected ways," Deadline noted.

The Oscar winner has been busy lately with a number of roles lined up, including a supporting role in the coming-of-age story "Mud," a part in Atom Egoyan's dramatization of the West Memphis Three trial, "Devil's Knot," and a star turn in "Wish List" from "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig.

She is also said to be producing the upcoming film adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel "Gone Girl."

In addition to Reese's forthcoming career projects, the working mom is also balancing her personal life with husband Jim Toth as well. The couple, married in March 2011, welcomed a new baby boy in Septemeber, named Tennessee James. The newborn is Witherspoon's third child and first with Toth, reports Chicago Tribune. She was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe from 1999 to 2006, who fathered her two other children: daughter Ava and son Deacon.
