NBC has given Jimmy Fallon a five year extension which means the 41-year-old host will be behind the desk of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon through 2021. The Emmy winner took over the 11:35 p.m. show from Jay Leno in February 2014. Before that he hosted the Late Night slot for almost five years. Speaking of which, also renewed through 2021 was Late Night with Seth Meyers.

As far as Fallon's renewal, Greenblatt addressed recent rumors. "Jimmy is going to be fine for many years to come. I often say Jimmy is going to be there longer than me and many of you in your jobs." When asked more specific questions about the accident prone host Greenblatt claimed, "He doesn't have a drinking problem that any of us know about. He goes out and has fun and he's had some accidents. ... We are always worried about his safety and health and yeah, there's been conversations about that ... the stories are exaggerated about all of it."

It was also announced that Fallon will be traveling to Los Angeles next month for a week of shows as well as a Valentine's Day special.

In regards to Meyers, Greenblatt stated, "As a writer, performer and host, Seth has a rich history at NBC and we are thrilled that he'll be at the helm of Late Night for many more years. His knowledge of both current events and pop culture is unparalleled and he brings that expertise to Late Night every night. The show couldn't be in better hands."

In addition, Meyers will host a primetime special edition of Late Night on New Year's Eve 2016 where he'll highlight the news of the year. When reached for comment, the 42-year-old Emmy winner claimed, "I can't thank NBC enough for continuing to support our show and this more than makes up for my disappointment in not getting cast in The Wiz." Before taking over Late Night from Jimmy Fallon, Meyers was a writer and performer on Saturday Night Live for 13 seasons where he famously helmed Weekend Update.

Both late night programs, as well as SNL, are executive produced by Lorne Michaels.
