Days after Spike Lee announced that his newest documentary on the King of Pop, Michael Jackson's Journey from Motown to Off the Wall, would be airing on Showtime shortly after its Sundance Film Festival release, the ode to the "Beat It" singer's first major album gets its first trailer, featuring The Weeknd.

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, the premium cable network released the first trailer for the documentary, Lee's second film about Jackson, last Wednesday. The documentary follows the release of the singer's breakout solo LP, Off the Wall, and how it shaped up his career as one of the greatest figures in 20th century music.

In the new trailer, The Weeknd as well as Talking Heads' David Byrne and Questlove from The Roots speak about the effect Jackson's music had on their lives and their future work as artists.

"I've always used Michael as, first and foremost, a vocal inspiration, and Off the Wall was definitely the one that made me feel like I could sing," The Weeknd shares on the clip. "I found my falsetto because of Off the Wall."

As The Verge reports, Lee recorded multiple pop culture figures for his documentary, including singers Pharrell Williams and John Legend, besides Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant and even ballet superstar, Misty Copeland.

Jackson's family was also involved in the project, with his parents and siblings being interviewed about his rise into superstardom in the late 70s.

Lee's first documentary about Jackson was Bad 25 and it released in 2012, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the album that gave the world iconic songs like "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Smooth Criminal." When Jackson was alive, Lee collaborated with him, directing the clip for his 1996 single, "They Don't Care About Us."

Lee's new documentary about Jackson will premiere in the iconic independent festival in Utah next weekend, and it will be airing on Showtime on February 5th.
