Bachelor contestant shows are getting a fresh new facelift with the announcement of B.J. Britt as television's first Black bachelor. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Being Mary Jane star will get his shot at love as he plays Darius Hill on Lifetime's unREAL dating series, Everlasting. Watch Britt as he finds his lucky lady on Season 2 of Everlasting premiering this summer.

Everlasting, the fictional bachelor-type dating show, is stepping out in a direction that ABC's The Bachelor hasn't dared to in 20 seasons with the casting of a Black suitor. B.J. Britt is bringing diversity to the genre with his role of Darius Hill, a smoking-hot, professional quarterback and ultimate prize for Quinn (Constance Zimmer) or Rachel (Shiri Appleby).

Darius is described as drop-dead athlete with a million-dollar smile, sweetness and swagger to match. Darius is a ladies man and hopes he can charm his way out of a nasty PR scandal. Darius is the whole package and has no idea that the ride he's about to take on Everlasting may change his life forever.

After the announcement that B.J. Britt secured the role of the network's first black suitor, he re-posted the good news on his Instagram.

Among the visionaries behind the casting of Everlasting season 2 is co-creator, Sarah Gertrude Shapiro who explained that UnREAL producers are taking diversity seriously. "In an era where driving while black is dangerous, there are few more things more pressing than this conversation. We really want to keep talking about stuff that we're passionate about," said Shapiro.

It seems that it only took 2 seasons for the producers of UnREAL to recognize the importance of diversity on screen. Meanwhile, The Bachelor on ABC has been on air since 2002 and has yet to feature a suitor of color. In response to the increased pressure for minority representation on screen, ABC reps told the press that The Bachelorette premiere this summer may feature a diverse lead.

Be sure to tune in to see B.J. Britt blaze the trail for Black suitors on Lifetime's UnREAL show Everlasting season 2 this summer!
