Are 'Honey Boo Boo' Star Sugar Bear's Gay Rumors a Publicity Stunt for Mama June Shannon?

It is no secret that the stars of the now cancelled TLC series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson and Mama June Shannon, have had their fair share of issues both onscreen as well as off. But now that they are both featured on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Star, a lot of questions and rumors are still being brought up in the public arena. While they have discussed at length their cheating issues, another report is claiming that Sugar Bear engaged in a gay sexual relationship while the two were married, which some are saying is merely a publicity rumor.

While it has been talked about on the show, with Shannon mentioning that Thompson has experimented with men while they were together, someone close to the pair explained that the couple was only claiming that for attention.

According to Radar Online, a source claimed that it was just to get their names in the press.

"It's all for show," the insider explained, according to In Touch Weekly. "June is desperate for attention and to stay relevant without their reality series, and she has Sugar Bear along for the ride."

While they are getting a paycheck from participating on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, it seems that it isn't enough compared to what they were used to cashing in on their own series, and they know just how to work the system in order to bring in more money.

"They know that bringing the drama will bring them big bucks," the source continued, according to The Hollywood Gossip.

And it seems that they are going for the big drama, as during last week's episode, Sugar Bear confessed that he had saved some explicit photos of men on his phone, while also explaining that he had sex with an unknown woman at a motel, and also claimed to cheating with his ex-wife in his truck, all while married to Shannon.
