'Man of Steel' News: Lex Luthor in Latest Superman Movie? Writer David Goyer Discusses Villain Rumors, 'Man of Steel 2", Christopher Nolan, WATCH Trailer [VIDEO]

The "Man of Steel" rumors are coming in fast and furious. Superman fans will be excited to know the latest rumor surrounds Superman villain Lex Luthor. Could the evil mastermind make an appearance in the June 14, 2013 release of "Man of Steel?" Well the movie's writer David Goyer just created some buzz with his recent comments. The latest Superman movie starring Henry Cavill as the lead role is sure to the talk of Hollywood this summer.

Lex Luthor is not going to be the main villain in "Man of Steel," but there have been a number of rumors that Luthor could make an appearance in the film to set up "Man of Steel 2." One rumor pitted Bradley Cooper as the actor who would play Luthor. "Man of Steel" writer David Goyer recently talked with I Am Rogue and made some interesting comments surround the Superman villain.

When asked why Luthor wasn't included in the "Man of Steel" film, Goyer said, "I don't think anyone has ever confirmed that we haven't included him." However, don't jump to conclusions just yet. When Goyer was asked if he would use Luthor in the film to tease a "Man of Steel 2" appearance, Goyer included advice he got from the film's producer Christopher Nolan. "Put everything you have in this film and worry about the sequel once the movie is done," Goyer said.

The Superman comic book is one of the biggest of all the superhero comics, but has fallen on hard times since the days of Christopher Reeves' Superman. With superhero movies popping up everywhere and making a lot of money, the Superman franchise should be a blockbuster. However, in 2006's "Superman Returns" the movie didn't fare as well as expected. In fact, the franchise needed a complete overhaul and that is what it got. Out was Brandon Routh as Superman, Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, and Bryan Singer in the director's chair. June's "Man of Steel" will feature an all-star cast along with Zach Snyder as the film's director. Henry Cavill will play Superman, Amy Adams is Lois Lane, Russell Crowe plays Jor-El, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane plays Clark Kent's parents, Michael Shanon is General Zod, and Laurence Fishburn is Perry White. Whew, I'm tired just from typing all those big names.

Needless to say, the rumor mill will continue to spin very quickly around "Man of Steel." As long as the movie's producers and cast stay quite on the upcoming film, fans will continue to speculate as to the direction of the latest Superman movie.
