South Indian actor Dhanush, who earned fame after his song "Why This Kolaveri Di" crossed 100 million views on YouTube, is now set to make his Hollywood debut with Kill Bill star Uma Thurman.

Dhanush made his Bollywood debut back in 2013, starring in Raanjhanaa with Sonam Kapoor. In 2015, he shared the screen with Amitabh Bachchan in R. Balki's Shamitabh. Now, to make his fans proud, Dhanush has officially singed his first Hollywood film titled The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Cupboard. Times of India reported that the film is being directed by Iranian-French director, Marjane Satrapi, who many know from her critically acclaimed animated film, Persepolis.

In the new film, Dhanush will share the screen with Thurman and San Andreas actress Alexandra Daddario.

The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Cupboard is said to be based on a book of the same name, written by French author Romain Puertolas. The story follows the life of Ajatashatru Oghash Rathod, a 38-year-old fakir who tricks his local village in Rajasthan, India, into believing that he has special powers and into paying him to fly to Paris to buy a bed of nails from an Ikea store.

After signing onto the project, Dhanush released a press release where he thanked all his fans for pushing him to explore new endeavours. The Raanjhanaa actor was quoted by Indian Express as stating:

"I am very excited by this opportunity to work in a full-length Hollywood film. The director, Marjane Satrapi, felt I would be apt for this role and I feel there are many facets I can explore for this character."

The shooting of The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Cupboard is reportedly set to begin in the second half of 2016 and the movie will be shot in Italy, France and India.

Meanwhile, Dhanush will be seen in South Indian films like Vada Chennai, Kodi and Rail.
