Florida State came to a settlement with a former student at the University, who claimed that current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston sexually assaulted her in December of 2012 after a night out.

ESPN wrote this in a recent article in regards to the outcome of the case:

"Florida State will pay Erica Kinsman $250,000 and her attorneys $700,000. Kinsman's attorneys said the $950,000 payment is the largest in history to a single plaintiff claiming a school's indifference to a sexual assault allegation. The settlement also includes Florida State's five-year commitment to sexual assault awareness, prevention and training programs, and the school agreed to publish annual reports on those programs."

The settlement was the conclusion to a long a drawn out process that took place over the course of three years.

And while Kinsman was happy that Florida State has continued to take steps in the right direction to make the university safer for all students, she expressed her disappointment in being forced to leave her dream school.

"I will always be disappointed that I had to leave the school I dreamed of attending since I was little," Kinsman said in a statement. "I am happy that FSU has committed to continue making changes in order to ensure a safer environment for all students."

Kinsman left the school after the case was made public in 2013, citing harassment as the main reason to do so. Even so, she is set to graduate from another four-year school this spring.

Meanwhile, Winston just concluded his first full season in the NFL after being drafted with the No.1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. He played and started all 16 games for the Buccaneers, leading the team to a 6-10 record. He threw for over 4,000 yards with 22 Touchdown's and 15 interceptions.

In April, Kinson sued Winston who then coutnersued. That case is still ongoing.
