Miley Cyrus has been cast in Woody Allen's upcoming Amazon TV series. The 23-year-old Bangerz singer will star in the 60's era program which is the Magic in the Moonlight writer/director's first venture onto the small screen. The six half-hour episodic series, all of which were written by the 80-year-old comedy legend, will also star actress/writer Elaine May, whom Allen previously worked with in the 2000 comedy Small Time Crooks.

E! News confirmed the "Wrecking Ball" songstress' involvement who claimed on Instagram "F*ck yeah! Stoked to be in Woody Allens first series!!!!! I had claimed 2016 to be my year of 'chillin the f--k out' but next to my bed for a few years now has been this portrait of W.A. & I was looking into his eyes when I got the call to be apart of the cast and work alongside the bad a$ Elaine May & da dude himself! 1960zzzz here I [come]."

"Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it's an honor to be working with him on his first television series," said VP of Amazon Studios Roy Price. "From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn't be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year."

Deadline first announced a year ago that the four-time Oscar winner was working on the series. The Midnight in Paris auteur will also produce, direct and star in the yet untitled project. "I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin," said Allen before adding "My guess is that Roy Price will regret this."

Cyrus, who recently got engaged to actor Liam Hemsworth, hasn't acted since the 2012 film So Undercover. Her last foray in television was her breakout role of Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel from 2006-2011. Production on the "We Can't Stop" vocalist's return to TV won't begin until March.
