USA Network's Queen Of The South: Alice Braga As Kate Del Castillo's 'La Reina Del Sur' Promo!

Based on the popular telenovela from Telemundo, USA network is bringing viewers their version of La Reina Del Sur. In the upcoming pilot of Queen of the South, Alice Braga takes over the reins from Kate Del Castillo in the 2016 premiere promo.

As we previously mentioned, based on the international hit by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Queen Of The South tells the crime-ridden tale of Teresa Mendoza (Braga). Everything changes for Teresa when her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico. Forced to go on the run, Teresa seeks refuge in America.

In America, Mendoza will then team with an unlikely figure from her past. In her attempts to bring down the leader of the drug trafficking ring, she slowly learns the tools of the trade. How long before Teresa strategically positions herself to become the leader of the Cartel?

USA president Chris McCumber reveals his excitement for the telenovela excitement, "From script to inception, Queen of the South had us hooked. Alice Braga does an outstanding job playing Teresa Mendoza, a determined woman who defies all odds, to not only survive, but to thrive in an unfamiliar world. The novel has been embraced around the globe, and the telenovela broke records - now we're looking forward to sharing this unique version of her story on USA."

The pilot was written by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller and directed by Charlotte Sieling. David Friendly (Little Miss Sunshine) and Pancho Mansfield (Damien) will serve as executive producers.

According to Latin Times, more than a year of casting and filming has taken place after the USA drama was grant a pilot order. A 40-second promo has been released, which should prepare everyone for the highly-anticipated English version.

If you were watching this week, the promo aired during the midseason premiere of Suits and re-aired again during Colony.

Queen of the South will makes its USA Network debut sometime in 2016.
