Jada Pinkett Smith might be busy these days being behind the movement to boycott this year's Oscars, but that's not about to stop the superstar actress from doing her job like nobody else's business, coming back to one of her most popular role. The actress will be coming back to the Gotham season 2 as Fish Mooney, so that might answer the question about the character's death!

According to TV Line, Pinkett Smith is coming back for "multiple episodes in the show's second season, after the character was pushed to her death by the Penguin at the first season's finale. Ever a fighter, it seems Fish will survive to see another day, no doubt seeking revenge from Cobbeplot, half a season after she was left for dead.

Still, the producers behind the Batman comics show aren't saying much about this season, which won't come back until late February.

"I would definitely not assume anything in a town like Gotham," Bruno Heller, Gotham's showrunner, said cryptically last year after Fish Mooney seemingly fell to a wet death. "It's very unpredictable, the comic book world."

Of course, Fish could still very well be dead and only come back in flashback form, though that seems unlikely considering Pinkett Smith has signed up for several episodes. As Slash Film reports, it seems unlikely that Fish's return could have something to do with the Indian Hill facility run by B.D. Wong's Hugo Strange, though audiences will have to wait almost a full month to find out.

DC Entertainment is currently going through a massive new revival of their material, bringing their most famous comic book characters to the small and big screen in separate projects. Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where shows and films are connected, DC series like Gotham, The Flash and Arrow are completely separate from their movie versions.
