Vanessa Hudgens put on a brave face and gave an outstanding performance as Betty Rizzo during the Grease: Live performance on FOX on Sunday night. Just hours before her show, Hudgens revealed that her father, Greg, lost his battle with stage 4 cancer.

In a message posted to Twitter, Hudgens said that she was going to go on and do her live show in honor of her father. The actress tweeted: "I am so sad to say that last night my daddy, Greg passed away from stage 4 cancer. Thank you to everyone who kept him in your prayers," she added, "Tonight, I do the show in his honor."

After revealing that her father had died, Hudgens received love and support from other celebrities including her boyfriend, Austin Butler. Butler claimed that his lady's voice made him tear up as she sing, "There Are Worse Things I Could Do."

Empire star Jussie Smollett tweeted his condolences to the actress and revealed that he too lost a loved one to cancer.

Back in 2015, Hudgens dedicated an award to her boyfriend's mother who died of cancer while revealing that her father was also battling the disease.

"Last year, my boyfriend, Austin, lost his mom, Lori, to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage four cancer," Hudgens previously said. "Let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being."

She continued, "This award, it means a lot to me but I dedicate it to my boyfriend's mom, Lori, my dad, and to all the families out there who are struggling with this, because it really takes a strong person and a strong family to be able to help those out who are going through this."
