Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter may be a truly independent woman on Agent Carter, but she still relies on the occasional help from Howard Stark's butler Edwin Jarvis. The character played by James D'arcy may be getting more action in the second season, as Lotte Verbeek has been cast as his wife Ana and Peggy gets ready for more action!

D'arcy recently spoke to Comic Book Resources, where he admitted his admiration for his new costar who will play his onscreen wife.

"She's the best. She's just fantastic," Darcy said before sharing some behind-the-scene details where Verbeek did some improv.

"When we were shooting the scene where Hayley and I were having the little judo fight, there was a bit where I went over to get a towel from Lotte and she smacked me on the bottom, which wasn't in the script," he revealed. "It was very playful and, I thought, really courageous because she's just arrived in a new show, working with people who had been there a long time and she did it. She just did it."

This certainly sounds like the kind of thing Jarvis' wife would do, and according to D'arcy, it led to Verbeek playing Ana in a particular way. The actor also commented that Ana and Jarvis are just your typical 1950's couple.

"I think Jarvis and Ana are a very sweet couple together, and hopefully that comes through," he said. "They're like a proper couple who do those old-fashioned things that couples do."

Jarvis may be in love with Ana, but D'arcy admitted that the character truly feels strongly about Peggy as well.

"He really cares for her, and he really wants to help," he said. "Peggy has the weight of the world on her shoulders. I do think he finds it quite difficult when he's not able to help her, and the dangers of Peggy's job are part of an ongoing conversation as the season goes on."

Catch D'arcy as Jarvis in the second season of Agent Carter, which airs on ABC every Tuesday nights.
