Everyone's favorite original reality show bad girl, Kristin Cavallari, is opening up about her time on shows Laguna Beach and The Hills. In a new interview, Cavallari dishes on her life on-screen vs. her life off-screen, as well as some filming secrets.

"Laguna Beach was really our lives being manipulated by being put in situations we never would have been in normally," she explained in an interview with Momtastic. "And when I joined The Hills, I looked at it strictly as a job. We filmed three different scenes, three days a week. I had my life on-camera and a completely different life off-camera. I knew the character they wanted me to play, and this time I was game. Since I looked at it as a job, it was fun to play up the villain character."

Cavallari, despite being only 17 when filming for Laguna Beach started, was known on the show for always being herself, for better or (more often than not) for worse. Cavallari says she really wasn't all that sure of herself off-camera, though.

"I came off like the person who really had my sh-t together but I was a mess-like most teenagers. I was really unhappy. There's a saying that you have to learn to love yourself before anyone else can love you, and it's very true."

Cavallari isn't the only one speaking out about the faux-reality portrayed on those shows. Most of her The Hills costars have spoken up in recent years about their time on the show.

Her Laguna Beach nemesis and the main protagonist of The Hills, Lauren Conrad, spoke to Cosmopolitan about her experience, saying, "It definitely became more like a job." She also says she realizes that she was living more of her life off-camera than on it.

Cavallari famously ended up filling the void that Conrad left on The Hills after the latter quit the show.
