This seems like the year Leonardo DiCaprio will finally be awarded the Oscar for one of his performances, this time on Alejandro González Iñárritu's The Revenant, but fans might be getting too impatient regarding the actor holding the Academy Award. A town in Russia has created an "Oscar for Leo" campaign, and through it they're melting their gold to make him a statuette!

According to Mashable, a group of DiCaprio fans from the far east Russian city of Yakutia, in the Siberia region, are currently hosting a campaign to gather gold and silver to make an Oscar for the actor, seeing as the Academy has obviously taken far too long.

Tatyana Egorova, the woman who came up with the idea, told Russian news agency TASS that she and a few friends had kicked around the idea to make DiCaprio's Oscar for years, but his masterful performance in The Revenant made them decide that it was now or never.

"We have just started fundraising for the statue. The statuette is still in the development stage. According to preliminary calculations, it will take up to 100,000 rubles (about $1,300)," Egorova told the press, via RT. "Many women have already donated silver for the statue."

Obviously a fangirl's project through and through, the creepy-or-adorable venture has made women in the city donate half of what they intend; for example, if a woman donates earrings, she'll give one and keep one to herself to be "somehow connected" with DiCaprio.

The hilarious bit about the whole thing is that DiCaprio is more than likely to get the real Oscar this month anyway. After taking home the Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild Award, it sounds more than unlikely that the Titanic alum won't take home the gold -- but it seems he'll have two Oscars by the end of this year and the "Leonardo DiCaprio Gets Snubbed by Oscar" meme will become a memory!
